ESTL uses the acceleration test, to determine the stability of a load unit during transport. This acceleration test was developed in cooperation with the Leuven university. The acceleration levels occurring during the test can be set at different levels, making it possible to test different situations. During the test, high speed recordings are made to analyze the behavior of the load unit.
The acceleration test is in accordance with the EUMOS 40509. This norm describes the acceleration profiles as well as the acceptable deformations at a given acceleration level. The EUMOS 40509 is listed as a recognized norm in the European directive road worthiness. This directive is focussing on a uniform approach towards load securing in Europe.
